Ralink's Wireless LAN products receives Cisco CCXv3 certification
Issue Date: 2006/11/10 View: 323
Ralink Technology, a leading developer of 802.11x WLAN chipsets, today announced that its products have received Cisco Compatible Extension V3 (CCXv3) certification from Cisco. Ralink Technology was founded in 2001 with headquarters in Hsinchu, Taiwan and an R&D center in Cupertino, California.

The CCXv3 program is designed to test interoperability with Cisco Aironet Wireless LAN infrastructure and other "Cisco Compatible" products. By achieving Cisco Compatibility, the Ralink design reassures enterprise customer interoperability and greater flexibility for wireless LAN installation and enhanced network security and management controls through the Cisco Wireless Security Suite.

To receive the CCXv3 certification, Ralink developers planned, prepared and designed drivers based on CCXv3 Design and Test specifications from Cisco. Then, Ralink submitted the Windows Hardware Quality Lab (WHQL) and Wi-Fi certified products to Cisco’s authorized independent testing center for testing using Cisco’s test plan rev 3.66. Finally, the independent testing center sent Cisco a copy of the executed test plan and Cisco notified Ralink of the acceptance and certification.

"We are pleased to work with Cisco to improve the user experience and transparency of wireless connections for the enterprise market," said Rick Jeng, Executive Vice President of Ralink Technology. "By supporting Cisco Compatible Extension V3, Ralink enables hardware partners to serve the enterprise market with 802.11a/g products that support the latest industry standards and Cisco innovations."

The RT5201 Ralink WLAN chipset will now bear the "Cisco Compatible" brand which helps ensure that notebook PCs and other wireless devices based on Ralink Technology’s support advanced features that Cisco has incorporated into the Cisco AironetR Series of Access Point and other Wireless LAN infrastructure.

Ralink 802.11x chipsets are recognized for superior throughput, extended range, low-power consumption and consistent reliability demanded by Wi-Fi, mobile and embedded applications. These feature-rich chipsets have a high level of chip integration for client and AP solutions for CB, miniPCI, PCI and USB interfaces, enabling customers to build smaller and more sophisticated mobile wireless products cost-effectively. Ralink's patented MIMObility technology extends Wi-Fi applications from traditional PC networking to a range of digital multimedia and handheld devices including cell phones, PDAs, cameras, print servers, HDTV and video game players.
